Jacob Barnett, Art Therapy Intern Jacob Barnett was born in Colorado but spent most of his years growing up north of Boston, Massachusetts, before coming out to Portland for college. He is currently studying at Lewis & Clark College, and will be graduating in May 2012 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Art & Art History. Creating art has long been one of his favorite activities and emotional outlets, and making things with his hands is for him a source of infinite joy and comfort. His art typically consists of symbolic totemic sculptures in wood, wire, and metal that deal with issues of identity, mortality, and communication. He recognizes the power art has to help people work through emotional issues and soothe their souls, and is excited to be in a position to share this experience with others. His other interests include camping, swimming in any body of water that presents itself, listening to music of all types, and riding his bike around Portland.
