Portland, Oregon. On June 17, 2011 The 100th Monkey Studio will host an opening event for the summer group exhibition, Mapping. The opening will take place from 6:00-9:00pm and is free and open to the public. The show will hang in throughout studio from June 17 – July 31, 2011.
The artwork on display in Mapping imbues an individual concept of mapping and memory, focusing on relationships between artist and environment. Travel is an inspiring gift that fuels awareness, and it inscribes topological perspectives on the artist in the form of questioning. What is meaning? What is perception? What is context? Shifts in social constructs, transportation, nostalgia, and elements of surprise are celebrated in this summer show.
During the month of June, the 100th Monkey Studio will host an array of events and classes that include a collage open studio and Maps, a weekend workshop taught by Beth Ann Short, MA ATR-BC, on July 16 and 17.
