Yule Log Workshop
Leader: Joy Leising
A Yule Log is a large log burned in the hearth as a part of Yule, Christmas, or Solstice celebrations in many cultures. The burning and preparing of the Yule log is part of many different ceremonies in the winter months. It is said that the log is sprinkled with libations of oil, salt and mulled wine and then placed in the fire to burn. In some cultures people believe that if the log stays lit it will protect the home against negative events or powers in the New Year. Come explore this winter holiday tradition by making your own Yule Log to burn during the holidays or give as a special gift to someone. This workshop will involve making Yule logs to burn in your fire at home or Yule logs that are indoor friendly to burn with candles. Each participant will be able to create 2-3 Yule logs.
