only a felting needle and raw wool, we will make gorgeous felted hearts for

Beginner Ribbed Hat Leader: Alexandra Neilson
Expand on your basic knitting skills while making a chunky
ribbed hat. In this class you'll learn the purl stitch, a basic increase,
how to sew a seam, and how to read a simple knitting pattern. Purls and
increases add variety and shape to knit projects. You'll also build on
and review the skills you already know--the knit stitch, casting on, and
binding off. You'll be working with chunky yarn on large needles, so your

Nuno Felt Scarf
Leader: LeBrie Rich Nuno Felting is a process by which wool fiber is felted into
sheer woven cloth (chiffon or cotton gauze). The cloth is sandwiched between
thin layers of wool fiber and then the scarf is felted with hot water and soap.
As the scarf is felted, the fiber migrates through the fabric and then shrinks.
The result is a fantastic lightweight felted scarf. In this class students will
complete a nuno felted scarf to wear this winter.

Basic Wirework and Techniques Leader: Amy Olson This workshop will cover the basics of beginning wire working. Students will learn the function of basic wire working tools, how to hold the pliers, and get the general feel of working with metal wire. They will also learn how to make a basic loop, a wire wrapped loop, and a variety of creative ways to design jewelry using these techniques. Designed specifically for beginners, this class is a great introduction to designing and making your own jewelry! February 20th from 1-4pm Cost: $40 per person Materials included! Creativity Workshop Leader: Beth Ann Short Are you feeling stuck in your creative flow? Do you feel art making at home is a bit isolated? Twice
a month the studio is offering a place to get past these creative
blocks. Participants are welcome to bring in art already in process or
start a new piece. In these workshops, leaders will begin with a
small warm-up exercise and then if they choose will continue on with a
offered art directive. Thursday mornings from 11am-12:30pm February 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th Discounts for non-profit organizations! Cost: $15 per person includes access to workshop art materials. Punch cards applicable. Free for members.
Project Journals Leader: Beth Ann
Short MA ATR-BC Have you found yourself starting projects and not finishing them? This workshop is ideal for you. In this class, participants will create
project journals with realistic goals and have a group of people to reconnect
with every three weeks while they work on accomplishing their goals. In the first meeting,
participants will be given a blank journal to decorate and make their own. In this meeting participants will also
contemplate their end goal begin to break it down in steps to accomplish and
track in their journals. Keeping a
project journal will help an individual with memory and in evaluation (of project
and self). Projects may vary in
urgency to healthy life style changes, to more concrete goals (writing a book),
to redecorating a room in your home…the possibilities are endless. Each meeting of this workshop will
include both some conversation and art making around your goals and progress.
No art making experience necessary!

Nest Making Leader: Beth Ann
Short MA ATR-BC
A nest can symbolize an individuals experience of home, relationships,
family, security and/or freedom.
Nests are powerful tools in therapeutic relationships. In this workshops, clinicians will
explore using nests with clients in a safe, structured and ethical manner. This workshop will provide a portion of
time for check-in, options for supervision on therapeutic relationships with
clients and art making in response to personal supervision struggles.
Participants will also create their own personal nest to experience the
process/directive.
This workshop is designed for master's level clinicians in
practice. Candidates seeking ATR supervision hours welcome and hours are
applicable toward your ATR supervision hours (4.5 supervision hours).
All art materials provided. This group is designed for Master's Level
clinicians working in the field. Limited to 8 participants. If you are
planning to use this workshop was ATR supervision you must have a screening prior
to date of event.
Sunday February
14th from 11am-4pm Cost: $90 All materials included.
There will be a 30 minute break during this workshop.
Participants are welcome to bring a lunch. The studio is equipped
with a fridge, microwave and toaster-oven.
Canvas Stretching Leader: Christopher Gray Preparing a surface is a very important part of the painting process, that sometimes gets overlooked. In this workshop I will not only demonstrate the technique of canvas stretching, but also explain why these things are so important. A painting can be made to last thousands of years, or less than a decade, and it is up to each artist to take the necessary steps to ensure the archival nature of their work. Canvas isn't the only surface that you can paint on, we will also talk about what you can expect when painting on other surfaces like panel and found objects. Oil Color Class Leader: Christopher Gray Color is a many faceted thing that is one of the most demanding and complex elements of visual art to master, but with proper instruction color can become your greatest strength. In this class students will learn traditional and modern methods of mixing and dealing with color as well as learning why those methods are so effective. Have you ever wondered how to mix a skin tone, or why doing an underpainting is so important? The Oil Color Class will teach you these things and more by giving you the knowledge, and the studio time you need to take your painting techniques to the next level. Saturdays, February 13th & 20th Saturday, March 6th & 13th From 1:30-4pm Students in this class will also have 4 hours of drop in studio time throughout each week of class that they can use for NO CHARGE work work on their paintings. Beginning Crayon Encaustic Painting Leader: Beth Ann Short What a great use of old broken crayons that no one wants to use!
In this class, participants come away with a beginning encaustic experience. This class is an approachable start for anyone
class using the Encaustic methods for artists ages 6-106.
Encaustic painting is a specific
type of painting utilizing hot beeswax wax. Pigments are added and then
the wax is applied to a surface. Metal tools and special brushes can
be used before the wax cools, or heated metal tools can be used to manipulate
the wax that has cooled.
Encaustic painting can also be sculpted
and/or utilized in collage, as well as painted.
Come in and learn about this method dating as far back to ancient Egypt. In this class participants will utilize beeswax, crayons, fiber, collage and more. Participants are welcome to bring their own personal collage items to include in their piece, but are not required too. All materials provided!
