The
100th Monkey Studio will host the December First Friday opening of its
art show HIV/AIDS &Support. The event will be from 6:00-9:00pm and is free and open to the
public. There is will also be live entertainment. The show will hang in the
studio from 12/4/09-1/3/10.
The
100th Monkey is partnering with Quest Center for this show. Quest Center's mission is to provide services,
community, and education to low-income, at-risk people seeking a
wellness-focused approach to living and dying.Quest works to assist their clients to
sustain lifestyle changes that support healing, and to effectively strengthen
those diagnosed with chronic or life-challenging illnesses, including HIV/AIDS,
mental health disorders, chemical dependency, and cancer.
Every
nine and half minutes in America somebody gets infected by HIV. To acknowledge
this local artists were invited to create pieces under nine and half minutes on
location at the 100th monkey studio and Quest Center. Local artist Richard Jenkins utilized these
pieces creating into installation that will be on display at the opening and
throughout the month. Artist
juried into this show created art in response to the themes of HIV/AIDS and
Support. World AIDS Day is
December 1, 2009. HIV/AIDS has become a global issue.
