Color and Perception Workshop
We all have colors we are drawn to or have labeled our favorites. We tend to incorporate certain colors in our wardrobe or home environment. Color actually comes from the spectrum of light translated by our eye's light receptors.
Colors can have associations to cultures, objects and is one of the foremost manners by which we find meaning in what we see. In this evening workshop, explore color and your perception. Short will discuss a brief history of Art Therapy, clinical theories, properties of art materials, as well as discuss the importance of having a Master's in Art Therapy when using it in mental health treatment. She will also cover the education process, credentials available, ethical use and job hunting. For participants 18 and older. Oil Pastel Open Studio Workshop
Led by Beth Ann Short Drawing with pastels goes back to the 16th century and was used by many famous masters including Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec, Whistler and Degas to name but a very few. As drawing instruments they need no drying time and can be used equally effectively for loose, impressionist work or very detailed compositions. Oil pastels are not dusty and do not need a fixative. Join me in these open studio workshops where you can explore this media independently while having support as needed to work on any complexities that may arise. Oil pastels are an extremely forgiving media, rich and color and potential. We will work on both white and black mat board. I will offer demonstrations and basic technique. Acrylic Painting Open Studio Workshop
Led by Beth Ann Short This workshop is open to all levels. Open studio sessions provide individuals with the opportunity to explore the media, while having some instructional support as needed. Participants are welcome to bring something they are already working on, or start something new. Acrylic paint dries quickly and offers more flexibility in the process. Painters looking for community or a place to work will find this open studio option delightful and have support in solving any problems with works in progress. Bring your own canvas and keep your costs down. Watercolor Open Studio Workshop
Led by Beth Ann Short Watercolor is one of our oldest medias, used back in cave paintings in paleolithic Europe, utilized in manuscript illumination, Egyptian times, the Renaissance to today. We have an innate sense in using this media. This versatile media comes in more controllable options (watercolor sticks, pencils and markers) to more fluid options in tube paints. In these open studio workshops participants of ANY experience level can come and explore the many opportunities of this media. Application options also include wax resist, salt techniques and working on either dry or wet paper. Join me in these open studio workshops where you can explore media with my gentle support if you need it. I will be on hand to provide demonstrations on techniques and assist as needed.
