The 100th
Monkey Studio Artist Scholarship Fund
The 100th Monkey Studio
believes that self-expression is vital in our daily lives. Our goal is to offer
services to anyone regardless of age, gender, race, class, and background the
opportunity to explore their creative potential through art. Art is a powerful
tool that may be utilized in a variety of ways to create positive change in
anyone’s life. With severe cuts in Portland
public schools and community mental health services, the studio offers patrons
the opportunity to find community on many different levels. More structured groups are offered for those
in need of more support in process and technique. Loose studio time is also offered for those who want a place to
do their own art that not only provides storage of the artwork in process, but
also access to a wide variety of art materials. The Art Scholarship Fund has been
created to support our mission and our community in allowing people that are
passionate about art and creativity, but may not have the funds to access the
Studio on their own, a way to do so. The founders of the studio decided that it was important for the mission of the business to give back to those who can't
afford to do art.
The 100th Monkey Studio also contributes 5% of every gallery sale to support this program. The fund has also been given gifts by individuals and groups at studio events (The Art Materials Swap, First Fridays & more).
